As a tiny person I spent hours with a pencil in my hand, so I have always had patience, an eye for detail. I explore my inner world through drawings and painting, often in miniature detail. When I got older I realized that my art was something that was valuable to other people, too, and could perhaps allow them to explore their own inner worlds. I am a keen graphic novel enthusiast and when i find time for myself I write and illustrate graphic novels and children's books.

I find that portraiture is a challenging but rewarding process and there is nothing quite like the satisfaction of turning a blank page into something that somebody will find truly meaningful and seeing their reaction when they see their finished portrait for the first time. My aim is to provide more unusual portraits for people who want something a little different. I want people to use their own imaginations and decide how they would like their portrait to be so that the end result is an intuitive expression of their uniqueness.

My first commissioned portrait (and as it turned out my first oil painting too) was for Sandy Evans Esquire, the High Sheriff of Somerset in 2005. I was at college, in the midst of my final-year show and the task of producing the portrait, never having touched oils in my life, was a daunting prospect! One steep learning curve later I was able to present the finished piece and to my delight it was well received.

After college I studied Fine Art for three years at the University College Falmouth, graduating with a BA in June, 2008. I have now set up a studio in our garden and when I am not working for other people I am to be found writing or creating custom-creatures that become my strange companions and inspiration for story-telling.
